On 22/12/2010 the representatives of Association “Vaša prava BiH” participated in the round table in Banja Luka, dedicated to the new Law on Civil Registers in the Republic Srpska. This gathering was organised by the Roma Federation RS and UNHCR. Apart from the organisers, the round table was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Governance RS, Registry Offices, General Administration Departments of the Municipalities in the RS, Social Welfare Centres and Roma NGO’s.
A lecture about the most significant novelties introduced by the Law was held by Ms. Stojanka Ćulibrk of the Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Governance. In her presentation, Ms. Ćulibrk highlighted the unlimited validity term of the birth certificates and the responsibilities of clients putting that document in the legal transactions. The novelties about competence and position of the registrars were explained, as well as the additional electronic maintaining of the civil registers, registration of the fact of birth, role of the guardians and Ministry of the Interior respectively. The participants were acquainted with the procedure for subsequent civil registration, necessary evidence and they in turn presented the problems they encountered in practice regarding the above subject matter.
